VYPE: Heidi, what grade are you in and how long have you played softball?
Heidi Gruenwald: I’m sophomore and I’ve played for nine years.
VYPE: Tell me one of your favorite moments as a student-athlete.
HG: One of my favorite moments was when I was a freshman on varsity, and we went to Edmond North and I went 4-for-4 and my favorite senior told me that she was so proud of me and that I’m going to do such big things in my softball career.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?
HG: My favorite school subject would have to be history or geography.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite teacher?
HG: My teacher would be my 7th grade geography teacher Mrs. McBride she was so sweet to me even when I struggled, she knew the potential in me so that’s why she was hard on me, but she has always been there when I needed her.
VYPE: What makes Bixby High School a great place for you?
HG: BHS is so welcoming and supportive and will always encouraging getting better.
VYPE: What position are you playing this season?
HG: For Bixby, I play first base.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
HG: Honestly the teammate that keeps people laughing isn’t even a teammate it’s a manager, Malana Miller. She is so funny and is so sweet to everyone. For the teammate that’s serious probably a mix of people but one person I would pick would be Emme Friedrichson, she always is just locked in and ready.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare for competition?
HG: How I mentally prepare myself really just putting on headphone and listing to country music before every game and praying.
VYPE: What is your plan for life after high school?
HG: My goal for life after to high school is to go to OSU for softball but if that’s doesn’t happen then I would love to keep my options open and just see what happens.
