Senior Spotlight Kaitlin Mirc, Bixby Track – Presented by BTC Broadband

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?

Kaitlin Mirc: One memory I am most proud of is when I competed at my first freshman meet and cleared 5’0″. I had no idea what I was capable of, and after that meet, I fell in love with high jump. Little did I know how much track and field would change my life. It wasn’t just about the result, but about the hard work, patience, and dedication it took to get there. Looking back, it reminds me how much I’ve grown as an athlete and as a person.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?

KM: My sport has taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of hard work. It’s shown me how to push through challenges and stay committed even when things get tough. These lessons have made me more responsible and grateful in all aspects of my life.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

KM: I would have to say Dr. Urie (11th grade). She has always had her students’ best interests at heart and taught me so much. She’s always ready to listen. Her support has made a big difference in my learning and confidence.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

KM: My parents inspire me. Through my ups and downs, they have always been there for me. Their hard work, dedication, and the example they set every day have taught me so much. They’ve supported me, encouraged me to keep going even when things get tough. Watching how they handle challenges with grace and determination motivates me to give my best in everything I do, both on the track and in life. I hope to carry the lessons they’ve taught me forward and make them proud.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

KM: I would say Caroline Sutton. She was a senior when I first joined track. I did cross country at the time, and she showed me how to truly be a part of a team. I was a freshman who had never done track and field before, but when cross country season was over, I could always look to her for advice and help understanding what we were doing in track. She taught me what it meant to be a part of high school athletics. I hope I can be that kind of teammate for someone else one day.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

KM: My favorite part about being able to represent my high school is not only the fact that I get to compete, but that I get to show how much this program has shaped me as an athlete and as a person.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

KM: You can’t control outcomes, but you can control preparation.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

KM: I want to thank my coaches and my mom and dad for the sacrifices they’ve made and the support they’ve given me. From early mornings to long meets, they’ve always been there. I’m so grateful for everything they do for me.
