When the school year comes to an end, Bixby High School swimmer Nolan Pardue will look to the next chapter of life, attending classes and swimming at Missouri S&T.

“I plan on majoring in biomedical engineering at Missouri S&T and swim on their swim team, and then later go to med school to pursue a career as either a trauma surgeon or a general surgeon,” said Pardue.

The senior recently competed in the team relays and the 100-yard breaststroke at the state swim meet. Pardue said he loves how his teammates can come together and compete while representing BHS.

“I love how everyone has come together as a team this year and we all actually get along most of the time. BHS is a great place for student-athletes because of the many resources available to you like athletic trainers and college recruiters,” said Pardue.

With all of the personalities on team, things are always interesting.

“Luke is probably the most serious and is always listening to music and Keller keeps everyone laughing and happy. Everyone on the team has really impressed me but Jack Mose and Teague Brown left a lasting impression on me and really pointed me in the right direction both academically and in the pool,” said Pardue.

For his final season, Pardue knew he wanted to be a good all-around swimmer and he accomplished that goal this season. Eating right, getting plenty of sleep and listening to music have helped him stay physically and mentally prepared.

Pardue said one of his teammates has been a source of inspiration.

“I’m inspired by an old teammate Justin Gilliam who swam through many injuries and is just a great person to look up to both in the pool and out of it,” said Pardue.
