Addi Shannon
Bixby High School
Anyone close to the Bixby softball program is familiar with a young pitcher who enters her sophomore season with high expectations. Addi Shannon was 3-0 as a freshman last year head coach JP Sutmiller is excited to see what she can do this season.
“Addi is coming into her sophomore season ready to be a big part of the pitching game. She had limited experience as a freshman, but we hope she partners with Sarah Barbee as a one two punch. Addi watched Heidi Gruenwald, Brynlee Hopkins, and Alli Hancock start as freshman while not getting a lot of innings herself,” Sutmiller said. “She was a great teammate and took advantage of situations as a freshman. Addi will be a big part of the success that we have in the coming years.”
Her softball journey started at the age of five and she’s never looked back.
“When my friends that I had played with my whole life started to either quit or move teams, I decided this was my sport and I was ready to take it to the next level,” said Shannon. “I was taught the importance of dedication and responsibility. I believe to be the best you must always be learning and growing in your craft.”
Shannon said she loves her team and her teammates.
“Bixby is a very competitive school with some of the best athletes in the state. This pushes me to be my very best. Some of the many positives from this team are work ethic and teamwork.”
The sophomore said her influences include Casey King and Terri McClure.
“They have both made a huge impact in my life, they always push me to be better and believe whole heartedly in me,” said Shannon.
Shannon would like to play softball at the collegiate level, but first she hopes to live out her dream scenario of pitching the winning game at state coming off of an undefeated season.
