VYPE MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE 2023-24 SHELTER INSURANCE MR. WRESTLING AWARD TO GAGE WALKER FROM BIXBY
VYPE Magazine and Shelter Insurance are proud to announce the winner of the Mr. and Miss Wrestling Oklahoma Award, Gage Walker of Bixby, and Bella Williams of Edmond North. Both Walker and Williams are the first wrestlers to win the coveted award for Bixby High School and Edmond North High School.
The Shelter Insurance Mr. Wrestling Oklahoma Award recognizes the outstanding athletic achievements of Gage Walker and the high standards of athletic excellence and exemplary character demonstrated on the mat, which distinguishes Walker as Oklahoma’s best high school wrestler this season.
Walker finished the season by winning the Class 6A state title at 126-pounds and finishing 39-5 on the year. The win marked the fourth state title for Walker during his high school career (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). Walker also helped Bixby to a state runner-up finish at Dual State this year and an Academic State Championship.
VYPE Magazine Publisher Austin Chadwick said of Walker, “Gage is everything you want in a wrestler and teammate. He joins the great Shane Roller as the only four-time champions at Bixby High School. Walker is the result of a program committed to excellence coupled with his God given ability to compete at a high level on the mat.”
Walker joins former Mr. Wrestling award winners: Daton Fix-Sand Springs (2017), Zane Coleman-Choctaw (2018), Konner Doucet-Comanche (2019), and Eli Griffin-Cascia Hall (2020), Cameron Steed-Collinsville (2021), and Cael Hughes (2022).
