Bixby High School
Current junior and member of the dance team at Bixby High School, Eva Dotson loves being a student-athlete and representing her school and classmates in competition. Dotson joined the dance team when she was a freshman and has loved every minute.
“Being a student-athlete provides an amazing opportunity to excel in both the classroom and in my sport. I love getting to be involved in our school’s success on and off the field, as well as building amazing friendships with my teammates,” said Dotson.
Her teammates are a big reason why she loves going through the long practices and workouts.
“My teammates are so positive and supportive, not just with dance but with everything.
There is a definite sisterhood with our team,” said Dotson.
The memories they share will last a lifetime.
“My favorite memory so far this dance season has been our success at the Dance Team Union summer camp when we won several group awards, and I received both a staff choice pin and a turn standout award. Also, winning the Gold Ball at the state football game was pretty cool too,” said Dotson.
Dotson is involved in other activities at school including leadership, STUCO, National Honor Society, and the Athletic Leadership Advisory Council. In the classroom, Dotson said her favorite class is leadership.
“My favorite class is leadership because it teaches me valuable skills for the future. Mr. Patterson is the teacher and does a great job of leading by example,” said Dotson.
After Dotson graduates from high school, she is looking forward to continuing her education in college and possibly more dance at UCO.
“I am hoping to continue my dance career at college and major in Arts Management,” said Dotson.
The junior said her mother is a big influence in her life and she enjoys spending her free time with family and friends.
“I am always dancing and training in my free time but also love to read, go to concerts and Broadway shows, and hang out with friends and family. My mom has been my biggest influence. She constantly builds my confidence, pushes me to do my best and shows me what is important in life,” said Dotson.
