Madyson McClure is a senior at Bixby and pin hitter for the Spartan volleyball team. McClure first started playing volleyball in the seventh grade and joined the Code Blue competitive team. As the years progressed McClure became more passionate about volleyball and found the drive to improve every day.
“The highlight of my career is being team captain and all around on my club team at 16,” McClure said. “It was the start of me feeling like I could actually be pretty good at volleyball and had big hopes for my future.”
McClure keeps herself motivated everyday by setting goals and working hard to achieve them through determination, effort, and perseverance.
“I would say my want to be on the court and make a difference in the game motivates me,” McClure said. “I have set a goal for myself this season and am determined to accomplish it.”
McClure works to improve her skills in practice by competing with teammates.
“The teammate I battle with the most is probably Olivia Vance [another pin hitter],” McClure said. “She is an amazing player and it is very motivating to try and play up to her level at practice. Holding myself to that standard is a very good tool.”
One teammate that McClure thinks flies under the radar is Katie Reynolds.
“She is a strong competitor,” McClure said. “She is just so quiet about it so it may get looked over. She is the type to work when no one is looking.”
Although McClure enjoys competing week in and out, one game she looks forward to every season is the matchup with Jenks.
“I would say I enjoy beating Jenks the most. They are a high level and super competitive team and it is always a fight and so fun to play against them,” McClure said.
Off the court McClure is strong in her faith and enjoys following Craig Groeschel of Life Church on social media.
“There are so many motivating and inspiring posts that remind me daily that I am living for God and he will give me the strength to get whatever comes at me that day.”
