The Lady Spartans come into the 2022 season with a focus and determination to make this season one to remember. The Lady Spartans are chasing their first state title in volleyball and head coach Derek Serowski said this group is determined to push themselves to new levels.
“This year’s team is an eager and determined group of young ladies. With several returning seniors and leadership, sights are set on the state tournament. We have a ton of talent in this program. I am excited to see where we can go with it all,” said coach Serowski.
The Bixby faithful support for the program is off the charts. One player who really stands out is Olivia Vance. Vance is headed off to college next year but before she does, helping her team to the state tournament is her top priority.
“Olivia is a very bright and talented young lady. Recently committed to James Madison University where she will pursue her future goals and dreams, Olivia returns to the Spartans for her senior year as a six-rotation outside hitter. Over the years I have had the privilege to watch Olivia, she has developed into one of the best well-rounded players in the state in my opinion. I believe she will play a key role in this team’s leadership given her experience, as her and her teammates strive for the gold ball this season,” said coach Serowski.
Raegan Vernon will play a major role once again as she looks to be the go-to player as the team’s top setter.
“Raegan is an outstanding young lady and great athlete who returns to the Spartans for her Junior season. As one of the varsity setters, I believe Raegan will play a vital role in this team’s chemistry and success given her position on the court,” said coach Serowski.
One team member who is a bright underclassman coming in this season is Mallory Sommer. Sommer is a talented young player who can help the Lady Spartans this season. Other players to watch include Chloe Beam, Ella Long and Madyson McClure.
