Soccer Spotlight with Olivia Wagner – Presented by RainTech

VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?

Olivia: My personal goals are to continue improving my technical skills, speed, and strength. My high school team goal is to win State for the first time in the history of our program. My Tulsa Soccer Club ECNL team goal is to make the Champions League (top 4) playoffs.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Olivia: I really enjoy the club travel aspect and playing teams from all over the country. We play in showcases from California to Florida. It was pretty exciting to win our age group in the South Carolina showcase last year and I’m really looking forward to playing in the Alabama high school showcase this spring.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade or coach and why?

Olivia: Soccer is extremely physical, and I greatly value my athletic trainers, Koby Smith and Ryan Carter. They stress flexibility and technique and help me recover from long soccer weekends. They are demanding and challenging but provide perspective and keep things fun.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Olivia: One of my favorite memories is a game that had about 30 seconds remaining, and the score was tied. The ball was rolling towards me near midfield. I decided I was taking the shot and the ball fell right under the crossbar. We won the game and my entire team dog-piled me!

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Olivia: Bianca Lopez with TSC has left the biggest impression on me because she always hyped up our team before games and always had my back when things did not go as planned.

VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?

Olivia: Ella Hall on my high school team has the funniest things to say. She always lifts my spirits.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Olivia: I would go to Destin, Florida. I would take my favorite teammate and my lifelong friend, Bianca Lopez.

VYPE: If you had $500 and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?

Olivia: I would buy a new soccer goal for my backyard, and I would buy a Skillz soccer net to put on it.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Olivia: I would like to thank all of my past coaches for pushing me to be better and helping me become the person I am today. I would also like to say thank you to my family who has always supported me.
