Bixby’s Andra Mohler – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Bixby Flower Basket

Bixby High School junior Andra Mohler is a multi-sport athlete and a Kansas State commit for soccer. Mohler grew up with a soccer ball at her feet and she can play multiple positions if needed. “I’ve been playing soccer ever since I was five and it’s always been my favorite sport. I play outside mid, outside back, and sometimes center forward,” said Mohler.

This season got off to a rocky start, but as the end of the season rapidly approaches, Mohler said they have things figured out and are playing much better. “The beginning of the season was a little rough because we were still experimenting with our lineup and getting used to playing with each other, but ever since we figured all that out, we’ve been really successful,” Mohler said. “What I love most about my team and teammates is that we always have fun no matter what and make each other laugh a lot.”

Being a student-athlete at Bixby High School means you are dedicated to giving your best on the field and in the classroom. Mohler said Bixby is a special place because of the support you get from teachers and the faculty. “What makes being a student athlete at Bixby so special is the support from the coaches, trainers, and directors. I love getting asked by people outside of soccer how our season is going and how I’m doing as an athlete. They all truly care about every sport,” said Mohler. “Academics are extremely important to not only me but my parents as well. I’ve always tried to push myself academically because I know that I have to work just as hard in the classroom as I do on the field to be successful.”

Mohler is known for her soccer play, but she has branched out into other sports. “I played basketball my freshman year and I also started running track this year as well. This spring has been super busy for me but so much fun,” said Mohler.

Mohler said her parents have supported her throughout her high school career. “My parents have always been huge influences in my life. They have always supported me in whatever I wanted to do and been my biggest fans. They also help relate sports to life and teach me how to take advantage of my opportunities to become a better person,” said Mohler.

She will eventually play soccer for Kansas State while continuing her education, but this summer she plans to play for Tulsa SC WPSL and spend time at the lake.
