Bixby High School football player Connor Arant has fully embraced what it means to be part of one of Oklahoma’s premier programs, and for him it starts with the bond inside the locker room. “The brotherhood of Bixby football is unmatched every coach, player or staff member is family.” That tight-knit atmosphere has helped shape Arant both on and off the field as he continues to grow into his varsity role.
Family is a driving force in Arant’s life, and he points to his father as his biggest influence. “My dad always inspires me to be the best man I can be and football player.” That example of consistency and character mirrors what Arant sees in the leaders around him in the Bixby program, and it fuels his own approach to the game.
On the field, Arant keeps things simple when describing what he enjoys most about his position. “I love catching touchdowns.” He said the Spartans had a strong spring, and that momentum has carried into the offseason. “Our spring went great. The team looked really good at team camp.” The work being done now is focused on ensuring Bixby is ready when the lights come on in the fall.
A multi-sport athlete, Arant stays busy year-round. “I played baseball in the spring, and I wrestle in the winter.” In football, he studies teammates who have set a high standard. “Cord Nolan and Nathan Hobbs are two teammates I try to model, the way they lead and do everything right like showing up every day and working the hardest on the field.”
Looking ahead, Arant hopes the game will carry him to the next level. “I would love to go play high-level college football and get a degree at whatever school I go to.” Experience has already taught him the importance of mental focus. “To stay focused and tune out outside noise and distractions, whether that is before the game or during the game.” He knows where his strengths are and where he wants to grow. “I believe my strengths are contact and attack point at line of scrimmage, I am wanting to improve on a route running this year.”
