Taya Vinyard, a freshman on the Bixby volleyball team, is a defensive player with an incredible passion for the game. Her first high school season has seen lots of success, with the Spartans currently holding a 16-11 record (as of Sept. 28). See her Q&A below.

How would you describe your first season on varsity?
Vinyard: My first season has been amazing so far, I’ve learned how to play to the same level as the upperclassmen and I’ve created a great bond with all the girls.
Who is the toughest opponent you’ve faced so far?
Vinyard: I think our toughest opponent so far would be Bishop Kelley.
Which game has been the most fun?
Vinyard: The Bixby vs. Jenks game has been the most fun so far.
Are there any upperclassmen on the team who you look up to?
Vinyard: I look up to Baylea Norris, she always gives 100% and is always positive.
What is your favorite thing about playing for the Spartans?
Vinyard: My favorite thing about playing for the Spartans is all the girls having a great relationship with each other.
