Bixby’s Addison “Addie” Webb
For most high school athletes, balancing sports and academics can be challenging. For Bixby High School sophomore Addison “Addie” Webb, the challenge is amplified by her commitment to an out-of-state elite soccer program while maintaining perfect grades.
Webb, a forward and attacking midfielder for the Lady Spartans varsity soccer team, also competes for Kansas City Athletics, an ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) team based in Missouri. The grueling schedule requires extensive travel, yet Webb has managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career.
“One accomplishment that I am most proud of is being able to play for an out of state ECNL team (Kansas City Athletics) while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and balancing my school and home life as well,” Webb said.
The dual commitment has taught Webb valuable lessons that extend beyond the soccer field. The sophomore credits the sport with developing her resilience and determination.
“My sport has taught me how to preserve through adversity and never giving up even when it seems impossible,” she said.
Webb’s support system plays a crucial role in her success. She draws inspiration from her parents, who she says have demonstrated what it means to be a family and how to achieve goals in meaningful ways. The advice from her father particularly resonates with her approach to both athletics and academics.
“The best advice anyone has ever given me is from my dad. ‘The future I want will be determined by the work I put in,'” Webb said. “This has motivated me to keep pursing my dreams and not letting adversity define me.”
At Bixby High School, Webb has formed lasting relationships with teammates and mentors. She particularly credits Kali Murray, a recent graduate, with helping her navigate her freshman year and establishing what a meaningful big-sister, little-sister relationship looks like.
“Kali Murray has left the biggest impression on me because she helped me through so much of my freshman year and showed me what it was really like to have a big/little relationship,” Webb said. “She was always my No. 1 supporter and continues to come support me even after she has graduated.”
Playing for her high school team holds special significance for Webb, offering her the opportunity to create memories with friends while representing her school. Under the guidance of high school coach Michael Daniel and club coach Marcus Kelcher, Webb continues to develop her skills while keeping her love for the game alive.
“I love representing the school because I’m able to play with my friends and create lasting memories,” Webb said.
