Many high school athletes compete in multiple sports throughout their careers. Others prefer to play one sport and give it all their focus. Conner Eidson who is a junior at Bixby High School, decided to change sports but knows what it takes to be his best.
“I used to play basketball all my life,” he said. “But I decided to dedicate all of my time after my sophomore year to golf.”
With his focus turning to golf halfway through his high school career, Eidson knew that it would take some extra work to catch up with his teammates.
“It has taken many hours at the range just perfecting my craft,” he said. “It has been a grind this past year taking my game to the next level. Whether it is in practice or in competition, there are a few things that motivate me to keep working. My will to get better each and every day is one. Also, my family. They have shown me so much love and support during my golf career.”
With golf being a big part of his life, it is not really a surprise that Conner enjoys following different golf accounts on social media.
“My favorite person on social media is probably the Good Good Boys,” he said. “They are a group of guys that create the absolute best golf content out there. I own a lot of their merch and they have inspired me to become more involved with golf.”
While golf is considered an individual sport, Eidson says that he has some really great teammates that he enjoys playing alongside.
“I enjoy competing with everyone, but Zade Avery would be my biggest competitor,” Eidson said. “We go at it during the school year a lot but especially during the summer. He is a solid sophomore golfer who can hit the ball a mile. I think Landon Brabander is the least appreciated on the team. He has seriously gotten so much better since day one of this year and it kind of, in my opinion, has gone unnoticed. He is a great player and has worked hard to get to the point he is at today.”
