Olivia Vance is an outside hitter for the Bixby Lady Spartans, and she said her junior season on the volleyball court is going great so far.
“We’ve been really clicking on and off the court, and have had so much energy,” Vance said. “Varsity has stepped it up and it’s so exciting to be a part of it. The morale has been good for the most part, we’ve had lots of energy on the court and less drama than in past years. We’ve learned to put the drama aside when we’re on the court and work together. It’s fun being on the team, and even though we have our ups and downs, I’m happy with where we’re at and proud of how far we’ve come.”
Vance said she fell in love with volleyball the second she stepped on the court in the third grade.
“I’ve never not loved it,” she said. “I love playing for many reasons, but mainly because it’s a team sport and there’s always room for improvement. I love being an upperclassman now. It’s interesting because most people assume I give more advice on the court than off, which is the opposite of what actually happens.”
In her free time, Vance said she spends lots of time working on homework and recruiting, so when she actually gets time to herself, she enjoys hanging out with her brothers and her friends.
