When Brynn Daniel of Bixby High School was four years old, she started playing softball and is now a 12-year veteran of the sport and a valuable member of the varsity fastpitch softball team in Bixby.
Now a sophomore, Daniel plays the position of shortstop and loves being on the same team with this group of girls.
“There is never a dull moment. Our team is super close, and we are all basically best friends. Since we spend so much time together, we are always laughing and pushing each other to be the best we can be, and it is just so much fun,” said Daniel.
This season, Daniel and her teammates are off to a great start and their expectations for the season are high.
“I expect the Bixby Spartan softball team to be a force to be reckoned with. We are better this year than we have been in a while, and I fully expect us to make it to state,” said Daniel.
Winning state would be a great memory and for Daniel, making it to state in basketball last season was something she will never forget.
“My favorite memory was making it to state last year for girl’s basketball. We won both opening round and semifinal games to make it to the state finals and we got state runner-up,” said Daniel.
But with any student-athlete, academics always come first.
“Academics are of the up-most importance to me. I work very hard in school, always taking the chance to take honors and AP classes if I can and always excelling. I work and study very hard to achieve straight A’s,” said Daniel.
The sophomore said she plans to play softball in college one day and enjoys reading, drawing and working out in her free time.
